Alexa Echo Device can be used as a Bluetooth speaker without WiFi or Internet

You bought an Amazon Echo device, but you don’t have a WiFi connection. You might have an expired WiFi plan and still want to use Alexa for music via Bluetooth. Don’t worry, we’ll help you set up Alexa and pair it with your Bluetooth device.

Before we get started, you don’t need to do these steps if your Echo device has already been paired with your phone via Bluetooth. It will automatically connect to the Bluetooth of your phone when you turn it on. Connect manually using the Bluetooth menu on your phone if it doesn’t.

Step 1: Enable the phone’s WiFi Hotspot

  1. First, activate the WiFi hotspot feature on your phone.
  2. You can enable it on Android in Settings > WLAN & Network > Wi-Fi Hotspot.
  3. iPhone users can, however, turn on the hotspot via Settings > Private Hotspot.

Step 2: Plugin and set up the Echo Alexa Device

  1. Connect your Alexa Echo to a power source.
  2. Install the Alexa app and then open it on your phone.
  3. If you haven’t already, sign in to your Amazon account.
  4. Click here Continue reading Add Device .
  5. Select Amazon Echo with your model: Echo, Echo Dot or Dot Plus.
  6. Follow the instructions to continue after Alexa has entered setup mode and started blinking orange.
  7. When asked, allow access to location services.
  8. Next, choose your phone’s WiFi hotspot. Enter the password to connect.

Once the device has been set up, you can ask Alexa to make sure it is working properly.

Step 3: Pair Alexa with Your Phone’s Bluetooth

  1. Open Settings in your iPhone or Android.
  2. Turn it on by going to Bluetooth
  3. Say, now, ” Alexa, pair” ” Alexa, connect Bluetooth,”
  4. Click on Pair New Device. Allow it to scan for compatible devices.
  5. The Echo device is listed in the list.
  6. To connect your Echo device with your phone, tap the button.

Alexa will announce that Alexa is “Playing from” to let you know it’s connected.

Step 4: Turn off the Hotspot and use Alexa without WiFi

Once Alexa has successfully paired with your smartphone’s Bluetooth, it is possible to disable the WiFi hotspot on your phone. To play music over Bluetooth, the Echo device will continue to be paired with your smartphone. After you are done, you can remove the Echo device from your Bluetooth settings.

Every time the Echo device is turned on, it will connect to your smartphone even if it isn’t connected to WiFi. Open Bluetooth settings on your smartphone and select your Echo from the list.

Is Echo Dot a wired speaker that can be used with your phone?

All Echo devices have AUX ports for connecting external speakers. Echo Dot, Spot, Show, Auto, and Echo Studio do not have aux inputs. Only Echo Studio, Echo Plus, Echo 3rd Gen, and Echo Plus have aux inputs.

You can still connect your Echo Dot to external speakers but you can’t use your phone to play audio from your Echo Dot, or any other compatible Echo device. It didn’t work with my Echo Dot.

Is Alexa able to work without power?

Amazon Echo devices must always be plugged in to a wall outlet. The Alexa device won’t turn on or function if it isn’t powered. You have several options for using Alexa devices even without power.

Amazon also sells an Echo Input portable version that can play music and has a 4800mAh battery. To run Echo on a battery, an Echo Dot or Echo can be used with a portable battery base from a third-party supplier.

You will need WiFi to make Alexa work (unless you are using it as a Bluetooth speaker). You can also connect it to your smartphone’s WiFi hotspot. You can also get a mini UPS to power your WiFi router. Below are the links.
