Designated Survivor is an American political drama TV series that was created by David Guggenheim and was premiered on 21 September 2016. Initially, the show was under ABC channel and it was renewed for the second season but after the second season, the channel dropped the show on 11 May 2018. Netflix took a chance and officially picked up the show for the third season having 10 episodes. Here’s everything about the show, the release date, cast, and the plot.

As Netflix has just picked up the show, there’s no official release date announced yet. You can expect it to be released in 2019 as Netflix announced that the production of the show is going to start later this year. Still, we’re relaxed on the news that the show is not cancelled and we will be able to watch the third part next year.

Well, most of the big names and main characters of the show are much likely to be seen in season 3. Adan Canto as Aaron Shore, Kal Penn as Seth Wright, Italia Ricci as Emily Rhodes, LaMonica Garrett as Mike Ritter, Paulo Constanzo as Lyor Boone, Maggie Q as Hannah Wells, and Zoe McLellan as Kendra Daynes will be there. Unfortunately, Natascha McElhone who played Alex in the show will be missed as she was killed during the midseason finale. So, she will be missed unless she comes back for little guest appearances in the flashback.

Designated Survivor:Plot

Designated Survivor is an American political drama that tells the story of Tom Kirkman who is a lower-level cabinet member in the US government. He suddenly finds himself promoted to President after a devastating attack on the night of the State of the Union address. the President and most of the cabinet are killed and Tom is named as the designated survivor.

In the first season, the story deals with many different things, such as, what happens to his family as they move from a normal house to the White House overnight, how they keep themselves together as they adapt to the new circumstances.Tom struggles to keep the country away from the chaos and becomes a part of the investigation about who is responsible for this terrorist attack.

The second season also sees Tom’s struggle to deal with the daily situations and to search for the mastermind behind the attack on the Capitol Building. He is trying to balance out his duties towards his family and the office. Towards the end of the second season, Tom Kirkman is ready to step down as President. But at the last minute, Ethan West convinced him to bid for re-election in an address to the country.

Though Netflix has not yet released any trailer of season 3, the entertainment giant has released an official description for the upcoming season in a press release.Here’s what Netflix says about the third season, “President Kirkman will face a campaigning. What does it take to make a leader and what price will he be willing to pay? This season will deal with today’s world of campaigning, smear strategies, debates, campaign finance, and fake news.
